Product Introduction

Metagenomic sequencing is a method that takes the entire microbial community in a specific environment as the research subject. It overcomes the technical limitations of difficult microbial isolation and cultivation, requiring only the extraction of total DNA from all microorganisms in the sample for sequencing. Depending on the different high-throughput Sequencing Platforms, it can be divided into Metagenomic Shotgun Sequencing and Long-Read Metagenomic Sequencing.
Metagenomic Shotgun Sequencing: This refers to the use of short-read high-throughput sequencing technology to perform comprehensive sequencing of the DNA of microbial communities in samples. Through processes such as assembly, gene prediction, and gene function annotation, it aims to uncover genetic diversity and molecular ecological information related to species composition, gene function, and metabolic pathways within the sample.
Long-Read Metagenomic Sequencing: This refers to the use of long-Read high-throughput sequencing technology to conduct comprehensive sequencing of the DNA of microbial communities in samples. Thanks to the development of long-read sequencing technology, it maintains long read lengths while also ensuring accuracy, which helps reduce some assembly errors and easily obtain high-quality sequence information. This improves the accuracy of genome assembly and annotation, as well as the resolution of microbial community identification.
